The Pro Tools HD Power
How many plugins is possible to run with a HD 1 setup running 64 tracks? It's possible to run EQ and Compression (digirack plugs) on all of them?
How is it compared to PT HD 2 and 3? It's the TDM power enought to run as many plugins as you need? or is it less powerfull than other plataforms like Digital performer on a dual Mac. I don't want to compare. I just name DP like an example of a very powerfull setup, but I'd like to know what PT can really do. Thank's |

I also need comp/eq at 48 tracks and some amp farm, C4, masterx, q10. will it do it?

Re: The Pro Tools HD Power
If you record something that requires 48 10-band eqs, 48 compressors, and then needs more wacko stuff on the mix bus then you don't need hd1, hd2, or hd3... you simply need to re-record your music.

Re: The Pro Tools HD Power
I don't know the exact specs, but I know enough to know you don't want the HD1. You want more than that. If you're going to be doing so much processing, why not get ample DSP?
Also, you may have read in the product literature about the HD systems that IT RUNS AT MANY DIFFERENT SAMPLE RATES, and they all use different amounts of processing, so there's no way to answer your question as stated. |

Re: The Pro Tools HD Power
I Think "digislime" did not understand my question...
For example, for MIx, Mix plus, you have a table of number of plug-ins one might be able to open, etc. re-record music seems to be at least a stupid comment.

Re: The Pro Tools HD Power
Digislime,
I'd beg to differ... The band I mix for typically has updwards of 80 tracks... 32 of them being drums (2 kick, 2 snare with mics on top and bottom, 10 toms, 9 cymbals, 2 overheads, room mic, and a few others)... keyboards are 40 tracks usually with about 10 tracks of guitars and a bass track...about 10 vocal tracks. Having a 10-band EQ gives me more control over the sound that I want. These are real tracks from kick-butt musicians (Progressive Rock, very much like Dream Theatre). |

Re: The Pro Tools HD Power
Of course Brad! Tools are here to help us shape things and create new atmospheres too.

Re: The Pro Tools HD Power
Brad,
Musicianship has NOTHING to do with how stupid the "sales engineer" is in screwing up their sound. If you put the right mic in the right place you wouldn't need to apply 48 tracks of 10-band eq and compression. Are you saying that 48 tracks of 10-band eq and compression improves the song? Do you really need 32 tracks for drums? Does that improve the song? Maybe I'll buy some more DSP from you now that you've enlightened me.

Re: The Pro Tools HD Power
I know there's no need of 48 EQs and compressors if you do a good recording. My question was about what PT can do. There´s also other effects you may use wich use a lot of power like AmpFarm ect...
