Hey DTS....
Heya DTS, just a quick question..
Something that has stuck in my craw for a good while now, is why are your, (Avids), contests limited to the US and some parts of Canada? I'd gladly pay shipping if I won.

Lots of anti-racketeering laws in various locales make these lottery things legally encumbered. So the legal dept usually just approves a narrow territory for them to run in. At least afaik that's what it is.

correct my if I'm wrong but the HD give-a-way (was that just last year or the year before?) was US only but, a Brit won?

I always wondered the same. I guess a litle bit of research would be rewarding, specially on those territories where AVID already has an office and can get to know relatively easily if the region can participate on such things. Sorry, but to me it looks like it is a bit of lazyness and/or diregard with other regions. Unfortunatelly, AVID is not the only US company to do this. But could be the first NOT to do this!

It can't be all that hard for Australia.. folks are always giving away things here.. AT magazine gives something away every month.. Just have Brent Hebner's office send it out.

The ones on the AUB are always international.
Sorry to tell whoever gave you the racketeering line is wrong, that only applies for competitions where the user has to make a purchase to enter, then that becomes a lottery. If there is no purchase necessary then it's all clear. Oddly enough I got that advice from legal people at Avid.
