Default Re: Windows drivers for digi 002/003

I've just experienced this problem as well on my 003+.

With my buffer set to 64 samples to 512, I hear a glitch on the tracks that are playing back everytime I Quickpunch in and out. The audio that is recorded is completely fine. It is only in the monitoring.

Also when you hit stop on the transport, any track that has a reverb on it, the tail gets chopped for a brief moment then continues to play.

If I increase my buffer to the max 1024, and turn delay comp on, the problem goes away.

Well for me the reverb tails are much better at higher buffer settings and the punch in/out glitch is less but still there. Trouble is who wants to track at 1024. Shouldn't be doing this anyway. The Mbox on the same machine with the same session is fine, what does that tell you.

The glitch is well known and documented. FWIW, when I punch in/out with the keyboard(F12), I don't get it. Using a footswitch almost always gets it.

I wish that were the case here, F12, mouse, pre roll, transport buttons, all the same glitch in the playback of other tracks.

Which begs the question, why hasn't it been fixed?

When the transport is stopped there will very often be a gap then the reverb tail will play.
Often when the transport stops/starts on a transient there will be a short burst of distortion.

See this thread http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=310286 and others going back to PT8.

I went from PT7 to PT10 and that's when this started, same gear.
I have seen it on five completely different 003 rigs.
Finally, I have had this same problem since moving from PT 7.4 To PT 10.32. The gap between the reverb and delay tail...driving me crazy. But it is an intermittent issue that comes and goes with no reason. I have tried to track it down many times. By the way Im on a Digi 003 rack....Whats the latest on this?

For me the problem with reverb tails improves at higher buffer settings.
I believe this is related to the punch in/out glitch that disrupts playback tracks, as well as the brief distortion that often occurs when starting or stopping. It's the damn drivers. An Mbox2 behaves better!

Avid appears to be ignoring the problem and show no signs that it will ever get fixed. (piss poor support)
I'm getting close to just dumping the two 003Rs that I have and move on to something else and it's very unlikely to be Avid hardware.

Tech support has duplicated the punch in/out issue and recognized there is a problem, so it remains to be seen how long or if a fix is released. It's been almost two years since the last 002/003 driver release.
