Pro tools won't play.

Please help. I use pro tools 12.8 subscription for education, 2i2 Focusrite interface , windows 10 on a HP PC. All of a sudden during a session pro tools would not play back. Play button lights up then stop button floods it and nothing happens. I tried changing settings for hardware , I tried running a repair on pro tools. I uninstalled all pro tools and reinstalled it I tried removing and reinstalling hardware drivers. Last try I did pro tools installed successfull drivers for hardware working properly , sample rate and but depth all the same. Pro tools will not play and when I enable a track to record there's popping and Pro tools shuts down.

Is Windows set to use the Focusrite as the default playback device(Control Panel>Sound Properties)? If it is, change that setting to the internal sound card. Assuming you have installed the driver for the interface and it IS the selected "audio engine" in Pro Tools>Setup>Hardware?

The program was working fine. Just stopped working on its own. The hardware settings are correct

To answer your question Dave yes the settings are set to the Focusrite in the control panel. This issue started during a session no settings changes were made it just happened?

I have a question in probably a more friendly manner. Dave is that standard protocol? I've always had my sound card defaulted to Focusrite for Windows sounds instead of the default sound card. Does it interfere somehow with the use of PT? Mine can be pretty glitchy from time to time and that never occurred to me as a potential issue.

I've always had it set up to the Focusrite interface as well and it Work fine for quite some time. I did try to change the settings in control panel like was suggested. Pro tools will only initiate if my focusrite is selectedl0

So I just ran a 2 hour session after I isolated the Focusrite to Pro Tools only and defaulted the internal sound card for everything else and it worked flawlessly. Great tip.

When I launch pro tools version 12.8.2×106 , whether I open a recent session or create a new session when the edit window opens I press play in the transport window the play button lights up green and the stop button lights up blue immediately and stops the playback. No error messages pop up. Focusrite driver version 2.5.1. Playback device set to Focusrite line out. Recording device set to Focusrite line out.
