Default 24fps to 25fps with Prosoniq Time Factory - help needed

Hi All,

We are currently creating 25fps deliverables for a 24fps Polish film we mixed last December.

We are SRCing in Pro Tools to get the length changed and that is not a problem.

We have purchased Prosoniq Time Factory 2 and are then putting the files through it for pitch correction. Chris, the engineer in charge will post the settings he is using below.

We are finding that:
a) it is extremely slow - 4 hours per mono channel for a 144m film on quad core mac pro
b) the resultant file is different in length and sync is drifting

Can anyone reccommend a more proven (and possibly faster) workflow?

Thanks in advance,
Matt Chan

Here are the settings we are using in Time Factory.

Length = 100%
Pitch (semitones) 0
Pitch (cent) -71
Formant (cent) 0

Transpose off
Natural pitch off

Algorithm
DIRAC
Standard
Best
High localization = On

The pitch is perfect. And the length of the audio file is correct. But the wave within the audio file is shorter by 3 seconds at the end of the film.

I use the Time Factory II in a slightly different manner:

Expert settings
In FPS 24
Out FPS 25
Pitch (semitones) 0
Pitch (cents) 0
Algo
DIRAC
Standard (1-3)
Good
High Localization On

system
WAVE/BWF

No previous SRC length change - varispeed.
Sounds good and syncs good.

The new TF version 2.5.3 seem to change its algorithm list to some new ones.
What are you using today for 24-25 fps conversion?
I used DIRAC all the time but its now not presented in the list.
There is a new ZTX , ClearScale and quickStratch.
What's the best for 5.1 full mix conversion do you think?

FYI ZTX is the new Dirac - i think it's different but that's what Zynaptiq are outlining as the replacement algorithm

This is not, that I am Polish, so I know better, how to to this , but:

if you mixed a movie, you have access to stems: why not using Serato and use different alghorithms for each stem in order to have best quality?

I think this is much faster to speed change it, then create full mix from stems... At least for me it worked.

best,
Kuba

PS. I really wonder, how you treated sybilants in dialogs, as my home language is full of them

I have Serato Pro v3 and it works best for music, but I find that TF is tighter sync wise and better sounding on prolonged back grounds and and slow acoustic music with some violin or contrabass elements.
And for the DX for me TF is the winner.
