I'm with this bloke I would never do a live show without a backup. Especially if its a critical client or any client for that matter...... would hate to spend all that effort only to see it fail that costs you money and it isn't going to please a paying client "Ummm errr the software froze!" is not what they will want to hear.

Indeed, a level of redundancy is a must for any live date.

I used PT for years on live dates, but tried REAPER out of frustration once I went with a laptop and Dante et al. There were very random errors-and 1 is too many. Currently, we either have Logic or REAPER as the back up.

Charge $99 bucks for it too. Even better give it free to HD users and charge $99 to everyone else

I don’t use PT for live work either...for this same reason.

Yep
I am a songwriter/composer and don't do any live recording, but this is a total no brainer, Avid.

Credit also to JCBigler who didn't get quoted when I quoted a quote.

As I had several issues with PT stopping when in record mode in the past, I never track live events with PT. I always use Reaper.
But, I don't had these unpredictable since PT 10 or 11.
I'm not a gamer, I prefer using Reaper and not cry.

A recurring feature request is FOLDER TRACKS. Of course among other things they may help with managing large track numbers and provide workflow enhancements. From a developer/manufacturer perspective, each feature request is costed; e.g how it may break stable functionality, customer importance/rank, time it may take to implement...Does anyone have insight as to why Avid ignores this request or has tried and decided against it?

Don't know but wild guess... how would you use folders with S6 et.al?

Folder tracks v track playlist what’s the dif? I don’t know if I would like my tracks hidden in folders..... maybe there is some sense in it if you have several hundred tracks I prefer tracks laid out that I can scroll to, not dig down in some folder or folders to find something.

And the ability to seemlessly swap out plugins is really not a big issue for me. Who would want to do that at a critical time anyways..... I get a slight blip when I do in playback mode..... but really it that a real issue?

There's a big audible glitch while editing anything in playlist view. PT10 didn't do this, but PT 2018 does. Very high on my list for PT 2019. Makes editing in playlist view with clients really choppy-sounding.

Maybe don’t do it when the client is present... I haven’t noticed the audio glitch when editing playlist myself... but do get it swapping out plugs.
