BRC at 44.1
This maybe obvious to some but I will pass along my frustrating experience. While doing a session at 44.1 using the Adat Bridge and a BRC to provide MTC I could not lock protools successfully. Sometimes it would work others not. Well I figured out that when the BRC is pitched down so as top operate at 44.1 the MTC that it generates is about 10% slower so the positional info aint gonna happen. Also the Brc Tempo maps wont Jive and if you are running say logic as a front end while tracking that tempo also wont jive. I hooked up a Motu MTP AV set it to 44.1 and Bingo...works perfect...hope this helps someone.Anybody wanna buy a BRC?

Re: BRC at 44.1
Yeah - I've dealt with this. It isn't just a problem with MTC - the same things happens with SMPTE coming out of the BRC. HUGE design flaw with the BRC. Stick with 48K on ADAT's or prepare to rip your hair out of your head.

Re: BRC at 44.1
Yea - sucks huh? The solution I came up with is a JLCooper Datasync2. Recognizes 48k or 44.1k ADATs and spits out correct time code. Works good, and it's cheap.

Re: BRC at 44.1
I am also using the MTP AV with success... are you using an 888 in your setup? if so, which is your master PT interface, the Bridge I/o or the 888... are they both slaving to the MOTU? is that sync as reliable as the internal PT sync? when I swith to internal sync in the hardware setup, is it still slaving to the MTP...???
MTP/AV 256x out to 888/24 slave out to ADAT bridge I/O MTP also out to ADAT sync in PT 5.0 thanks for any insight

Re: BRC at 44.1
we do ADAT transfers to/from protools at 44.1 and 48 Khz with a BRC, MTP Digital timepiece, ADATs, Adat bridge... no problems running 44.1 of 48.
I recommend the MTOU DTP it's not to expensive and works well for 44.1 transfers

Re: BRC at 44.1
I recently ran into this problem using the BRC with ADATS and LOGIC/DIGI. There is a MTP AV in the studio .. So what I gather here is you should use it as the MASTER CLOCK for everything in the studio to get reliable sync.. am I correct??

Re: BRC at 44.1
you must have a master clock with all else slaved to avoid digital... c r a p ... from creeping into any transfers between physical devices.
The MTP DTP or MTP AV works. Does it work well? I'm not sure.. I would rather use an Ardvark or something with a better clock. but it does work. [This message has been edited by georgia (edited January 25, 2000).]
