Can\'t Change Automation Mode while in Play Mode
Is this irratating to you as it is to me??? Can't use the Auto button, located in the middle of each channel, to change automation modes while ProTools is in Play Mode.....Instead, you can by using the mouse. Currenly Running 5.3.1 OS 9.2.2. Has this been corrected in 6.x? |

Re: Can\'t Change Automation Mode while in Play Mode
From what I remember, you can if you hold down the automation mode button on the left side of the fader bank and then hit the "AUTO" button on the individual track.
Edited to add: This works in PT 5.3.1 |

Re: Can\'t Change Automation Mode while in Play Mod
Yes, Cobbler, you are correct. But, once OFF is selected (even after automation has been written) on a particular channel, you can't go back and step through and select another Automation Mode (e.g. Read Mode) while ProTools is in Playback. Unless I'm not doing something correctly, you still have to Stop Protools and re-set the status before moving continuing.
My beef is that I want be able to put any channel in any Automation Mode, using the Procontrol ( without having to grab for the mouse) all-the-while Protools is in Playback. Thanks for your help |

Re: Can\'t Change Automation Mode while in Play Mod
You're right. You can change between automation modes while playing back as long as you don't set the track's automation to "OFF". At that point you either have to stop playback or use the mouse (as far as I can tell).

Re: Can\'t Change Automation Mode while in Play Mod
You can't change automation from any 'on' mode to an 'off' mode while playing from procontrol. This is normal behavior not a bug.

Re: Can\'t Change Automation Mode while in Play Mod
You mean vice versa.
Off to on-- doesn't work On to off-- works fine This is normal. You need to hold the automation mode on the left side of the PC and then hit the auto button for the channel. It doesn't make sense to implement a single button automation toggle while you are in playback, cause the first option would be "Write", and thus make all other options more or less useless... ie. it will write over existing automation. The way it is programmed makes sense. Also, you can hit the Auto button while in playback to switch it from a write mode into read mode. |

Re: Can\'t Change Automation Mode while in Play Mod
you can turn it to any state you like during play by holding the automation mode buttons (next the the enable buttons on the left) and then hitting the black AUTO switch on the channel you want - sets the auto state to the one you are holding with the other hand.
