It's not that current software takes time to transition to fully 64bit, the thing is some of the software we use is simply left behind. Good riddance, maybe?

However, it's not just Pro Tools support you need. 3rd party plugin developers need to announce support also. I would hope it might take as little as 18 months before everyone has sorted themselves out. But, looking back to when we switched to AAX, that took years to transition.

The major one I'm waiting for news on is Conformalizer which I assume will be completely rewritten. I know Justin is an extremely hard worker, so my bet is he's got something amazing up his sleeve.
UAD and Waves (as of yesterday) are fully supported under 10.15. So I’d say it’s really on Avid at this point. That said, I don’t expect anything this year Re Catalina from them.

Great work on limiting your workflow to two plugin companies. I’ve got dozens of developers in my list, I have a feeling it’ll take a while for them all to confirm support.

Default Catalina

Has anyone attempted to boot Pro Tools v2018.12 yet using Catalina - or ANY version of Pro Tools for that matter?

Honestly, I can't even sync my new iPhone unless I upgrade. What a cluster.

I was just using those two as examples that together with Avid, SoundToys and Sonnox (also 10.15 compatible), probably comprise the largest share of the plug-in market in terms of volume in my world. If Waves can get it together this fast, anyone can do it. :)

I still need a few more (SoundToys being the most important) before I could ever even consider switching. I'm planning on somewhere around 6 months to a year from now, if everything is in place by then.

They couldn't without a major version upgrade after less than year and a half since V10

Won't boot....copy that.

I'm enjoying the odd silence from AVID.

Gonna have to use Logic or DP at this point. Gotta work.

It's not odd at all. Avid will announce things when they are ready for release. And apparently Catalina support is not.
