Default Projectmix I/O Or FOCUSRITE LIQUID SAFFIRE 56

Hello

I have been offered a Projectmix secondhand for a very reasonable price. But now that i have found out that i don't have to choose an m-audio or avid hardware option for Pro-tools 9, I am open to so many other options like the Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56. As an interface how does the Projectmix stand against the Liquid Saffire 56? Also are there other third party hardware options similar to the projectmix?

FWIW, the Saffire 56 is on my short list. I am just waiting for them to bring out the RTAS monitoring plugin to cope with input monitoring(due in January). There's nothing wrong with the ProjectMix, other than its a few years old, limited in inputs(18 vs 28 on the Saffire). It is a decent controller, if that part is important.

Thanks for the Info. I was a bit worried that the projectmix being 5 or so years old that it wouldn't be up to the same standard as products that have come out in the last year or two.

Albee, I though the RTAS Mix control was ready now! Where do you see January?

I think RTAS Mix control will be unveiled at the Namm show in January. I went ahead and bought the Projectmix today. I will keep you updated on how it goes with pt9

Appledude, Focusrite advertises that it's Protools ready right now, which is true, in that it's compatible, but the Mix Control will make it even more convenient to use, but it comes out in January.

I can see how the Projectmix I/O is attractive for the price. I want to up my channel input count from 18 to 32 though. I know the saffire won't get me there but I would get 24 channels and the ability to aggregate devices. I finally found where it says January 1st free download.

The Projectmix cost me less than half the new price and is less than a year old so im happy with the deal i got, it also came with PT-M powered 8 and an ilock. I'm wondering if i can use this ilock with pt9? I also want to reformat my hard drive before installing pt9, I have pt 7.4.2 on my macbook pro and some other software i want to keep but only have downloaded copies, Does anyone know if its possible transfer pt 7.4.2 to another computer via a firewire cable?
