Not with Pro Tools 8...

Pro Tools 9 will, though.

However, you DEFINITELY don't need HD to get 8 pres into PT8LE. There's the 003R+ with 8 built in pres. Or any other 002/003 will accept 8 channels through ADAT and another 2 through S/PDIF. You can run up to 18 I/O through LE... no need for HD.

It's hard to say what way is best... but you do have several options in front of you.

If you don't want to upgrade from PTLE8, your options remain to be the 003R+ or any other 002/003 with an ADAT interface like the ADA800. This would probably be the most expensive route at this point.

However, you are eligible for the PT9 crossgrade for $249 from your MBox 2. With Pro Tools 9, you can use just about any 3rd party Core Audio interface for up to 32 I/O. You can even use M-Audio that was previously reserved for M-Powered only. For example, you could get a 2626 for around $500 that has 26 I/O with 8 built-in pres. There are other similar options available as well.
