Re: PT 10 & 11 Issue
Good Afternoon,
I'm hoping you guys could give me some good advice. I purchased the Artist edition of PT 10(Mooger fooger bundle) that included PT 11 and MBox in its bundle back in 2013. I haven't used it since about late 2015 or so. I tried to open PT 10 yesterday and a window opened and it says that there is a problem(image attached). It worked perfectly fine the last time I used it. My OS X Mac is on 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion). I am aware that there have been several software updates for Mac OS's. I didn't do any software updates since I didn't have any issues. Besides it not opening PT 10, it prompts me to update the Mac OS software every time I open Safari. I don't mind updating my Mac OS. I just want to make sure I don't run into issues running PT 10 or PT 11 software if need be. I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling yet. I figured I should get advice first Here are my questions: 1. In my case, should I upgrade to Marvericks or Yosemite? 2. If I upgrade, should I use PT 11 and forget about PT 10? 3. Is there anything else I need to know? It's always good ask just in case. I also added this link below. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/c...m-Requirements Please let me know if you need anymore information. Your help is greatly appreciated. Re: PT 10 & 11 Issue
So I uninstalled PT 10 and reinstalled it. It is working fine now. I'm just no sure what to do once I upgrade to either Mavericks or Yosemite. Once I upgrade there's no going back and my PT 11 has a PT 10 co-install.

Re: PT 10 possible OS issue ""Need expert Advice""
If you do an OSX upgrade first get Carbon Copy Cloner, an external hard drive and clone your system. That way you have a backup to restore from if you have problems. As far as upgrading OSX - do NOT do an in-situ upgrade that's right over the top of an existing OSX install. That may be the way Apple says to do it but it's not good as you can run into many issues like drivers and plugins, etc. not being compatible with the new OSX. Install everything from fresh.
Unless you have either a Mavericks installer or Yosemite installer you can't get it from Apple the normal way. You would have to contact support and see if they can help you out. Or maybe some kind soul has the installers. Do be aware that PT10 and Yosemite don't play well. Please pay attention to the page you linked to. |
