PT9 Lab of 30 M-Audio Fast Track Pro - EITHER 4 outputs OR 2 inputs
Hi everyone,
I searched around & couldn't find anything on this. School started this week & we're having some issues. This is a Lab with 30 new M-Audio Fast Track Pro interfaces on new 27" i3 iMacs with 8 gigs of RAM. New install, running 10.6.4 (as that was the last approved OSX version as of last December when these machines were imaged.) We can only get the interfaces to show up as either 0 inputs & 4 outputs OR 2 inputs & 0 outputs. It's as if CoreAudio is seeing them only as 2 separate hardware devices that should be used as an Aggregate device, however, this doesn't work (it shows up but is greyed out, italicized & you cannot change anything in the playback engine prefs) M-Audio's own docs say that the Fast Track can't work as an Aggregate device. There are no updates or new drivers for the Fast Track Pro since driver version 1.8 Also tried starting with the N key held to change the Playback Engine at start-up. While you can switch to the built in iMac I/O, you can't use the Mic Pre's on the Fast Track. Getting both input & output to work at the same time from the Fast Track has not yet happened. Any advice is much appreciated. Best :) Walt PS: We currently don't have any 3rd party plug ins installed (except for McDsp 4.0.5 Emerald bundle)

Have you tried going to Setups>IO Setups in Pro Tools and defaulting the Input and Output tabs?

Re: PT9 Lab of 30 M-Audio Fast Track Pro - EITHER 4 outputs OR 2 inputs
Hi DigiTech,
Yes! The default button is greyed out. As a longtime user, I selected & deleted the inputs THEN realized that the DEFAULT button was grey out still. We're at a standstill. Using the 0 inputs & 4 outputs we can use the Axiom Pros and hear loops. But we're supposed to start using mics next week. No one else seen this one? I've attached 3 screenshots at the links below: Fast Track Pro on PT9 = no inputs! http://www.sendspace.com/file/gr8qxm Pro Tools 9 sees 2 devices (1 for input, 1 for output) & tries to make an Aggregate device. Unfortunately it doesn't work 2 Inputs OR 4 Outputs. http://www.sendspace.com/file/8pnoss PT9 sees Aggregate, however, as I RTFM'd the Fast Track doesn't support it. Nothing is checkable or changeable in this window, btw. http://www.sendspace.com/file/tgogni

Bump?
Anybody got a Fast Track Pro working with PT 9.0.0? Guess it's time to hammer Sweetwater & try to get M-Audio on the phone. School is in session, but the Fast Track Pro isn't. Best :) Walt

Here's what I'd recommend:
1. Trash preferences - does anything change? 2. Uninstall and reinstall the Fastrack Pro driver (make sure you have the latest version) 3. Test from a new administrator account. Let me know if any of these help or change the situation in any way. |
