Making the switch from PC to MAc
Hey Everyone. I have decided that I want to make the switch from using my PC to a Macbook Pro, to run my protools rig.
I have the digi 002r and protools 7.0 (on disk) and the 7.1 upgrade is what is running. What would I have to do to get everything running with a new macbookpro considering that the Disk I have for MAc is not for the Intel Macs(Im assuming so, I bought the digi in august) Thanks for any help! KYLE |

Re: Making the switch from PC to MAc
Just download the version for Intel Macs on the Digidesign website (PTLE 7.1.1 and 7.1.1 cs2).

Re: Making the switch from PC to MAc
Would I be able to download that onto a PC then transfer it via a cd burn? The only reason I ask is because I am not going to hook the MAc up with an internet connection...So I want to make sure before I do anything stupid!!
Thanks!!! |

Re: Making the switch from PC to MAc
You could do it that way, but there's no good reason not to connect the Mac to the Internet, if only for this download. It's typically incredibly easy to get online.

It is PC+PORN that causes troubles, not the internet itself.

I agree it's not the internet itself (aside from the few webpages that can give you viruses, but they're seedy. Usually any site to do with cracking software, or possibly porn sites (which may be what was meant originally)). But I wouldn't blame porn in general. It's not the viewable content that contains the virus, it's the hidden stuff within it (webpage coding, programming coding...). Given this, it's safe to say you can more than likely find porn websites or download porn videos and be completely safe. But some websites of any nature is a possible virus holder. The better you know the company/website and stuff, the more you trust it. If it looks like it may be shady or seedy, don't do anything with it. But on a Mac running Mac OS X, you're not going to run into a virus. Having said that, you can still look into Mac antiviruses, to be safe. Better safe than sorry. One person may figure out how to get a virus for Mac OS X, and no one will be ready for it.
