Default Pro Tools MP9 on Windows 7 Issue

Hey guys,

So I recently got a new recording setup. I have 2 x M-Audio Profire 2626 and 1 x RME OctaMic. (So 24 channels all up). I am clocking it all off the Octamic, no problems there.

If I open up the Profire software on the Mixer view, I can see that all the inputs and clean - no popping or clicking. However when I open up ProTools and recording enable anywhere from 1 - 24 of my inputs, in ProTools I will occasionally get audible pops and clicks that make their way into the waveforms. The pops and clicks do not appear to be on the Mixer view of the Profire software -so this makes me think there is a issue with ProTools.

I am running ProTools MP 9 on Windows 7 64 bit system.
I have a 2.93 Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of RAM.

I have tried playing around with the buffer rate and other playback options - still with no fix.

If anyone has any advise at all, it would be greatly appreciated.

Just for an update - I noticed when recording, if I monitor my CPU Usage in task manager, it jumps from around the 4-10% mark up to about 20-30% when the clicks and pops occur.

Any ideas on what could cause this? Should I beef up my processor or RAM?
