Default Strange error happening ??

OK my system has been running fine recently, but every now and then when I open a session I get this error message

"Could not complete the open session..... command because while translating tracks"

Anybody seen this before?? I even tried to import session data to a new session thinking it was a corrupt session but still I get the message.

Ive not changed anything on my PC, ive deleted prefs, dateabases etc but still every now and again this issue happens.

My system spec is in my sig.

I hope someone here can help me

Couple of thought on this(and I have also had this error before):

1-Are you keeping backup images of your system drive? If so, I would image now(or not...your call), then restore to an image done when all was working well.

2-it could be some corrupt audio at fault and this little "trick" helped me once before. Whatever sample rate the session is at, create a new session at a different sample rate(IOW, original at 48K, make new session at 44.1). Import and SRC all the tracks. The theory is, SRC re-writes all the audio files and that can "smooth over" the corrupt files(no promises here, but it did save a project for me last year).

Back to #1 for a moment, just because you haven't changed anything, doesn't mean nothing has changed. Auto-updates(if allowed) can spoil a good setup. Importing anything from the outside world can bring a virus, trojan, etc(had it happen here with a computer that never went on-line) from someone bringing in sessions on an external drive(I tend to run a suite of anti-BS programs every 6 months and then uninstall the programs after I get a clean report, or simply restore the system drive from a good image).

Hi Albee thanks for chiming in I always keep back ups and I've restored to these but still this error happens. The strange thing is its not very consistent it doesn't happen every time I open a session and it doesn't always happen on the same session. This is what has truly confused me. Ill try the SRC trick see how that pans out :)
