Pro Tools has problem syncing with VS-1880

I have transfered audio via the digital ports from my VS-1880 to my 002 many times. But right now I am having problems with it. I have the VS-1880 set as the master and the 002 sees a MIDI signal but Pro Tools will just sit there waiting to sync up. This is the second time that this has happened. I have gone over the settings and the connections numerous times and everything seems to be in working order. I have also tested the MIDI cables on other sources and the are working fine as well. And for both occasions when it did not sync up I just used it a few hours before and it was working just fine. Anyone else experience something like this? Is there some small detail I somehow have omitted? Thanks for any help you may provide.

goto windows/sessionsetup and set the starting time. By default ptle will start a session at 1:00:00:00 (one hour).

I have the startup time to start at the 3 second mark. But that leads me to remember that I failed to mention that Pro Tools doesn't even see the incoming time found under the session setup. But the 002 still shows it is taking in a MIDI signal.

So I thought I would go ahead and mess with this again in spite of Digidesign offering a solution and now it works again. Now I wonder if I need to start things up in a certain order. Or is this caused by something else?
