Default Clear Edit Selection shortcut

Sorry all if this is a daft question:

Is there a shortcut that clears both the edit/ clip selection on the edit timeline and clears it from the clip list?

I am trying to avoid going for the mouse everytime I want to clear an edit selection and go back to the selector tool.

For the time-being I am pressing tab (to clear the edit selection) and cmd+shift+D (to clear it from the clip list)

If the whole clip is selected, command+shift+b will clear it from the clip list, which will in turn clear it from your edit window.

If not, press b first, to put a break in the clips, then you can clear it.

Unless I'm mistaken, command+shift+d just clears your search result in the clip list, after doing a command+shift+f to find certain clips? I'm not in front of my Pro Tools at the moment...

Thanls for the input Ryan

No, cmd+shift+b clears the clip. I want to clear the edit selection in both the timeline and the clip list in one go.

Again, I’m not in front of my pro tools system right now but maybe I’m confused about what you’re trying to do. Give the above a try and you’ll see it clear from your timeline as well, won’t it? I do this command almost daily to clear guide tracks out of adr sessions.

On a Mac, just hit the CLEAR button

There might be a setting that has to be checked in order for my method to work

Excuse the computer lag, the screen capture made everything lag but you'll get the idea.

Up/Down arrow to clear edit selection, then P or ; to switch track also works.

Yes, the down arrow is a good option! Better than tab. It does not clear the previous selection on the clip list though...

True, and that's why I toggle which track the cursor is "parked" at with P or ;.

I was going to suggest the up or down arrows to move the edit selection to either the in or out point of the selection.
But I don't believe that this actually clears any selection in the clips list, FYI.
