who cares, I prefer Mac not because it's the best (because it isn't) but of MacOs, I understand it easily. I can't stand Windows workaround. It's horrible for me.

Why are PT users stuck between a rock and a hard place??

People have the choice of Mac or PC and since you can get a super fast PC for less than half of what a slower iMac Pro cost today there is no wonder users see moving platform as an option worth it!

The new Mac Pro is not here until fall 2019 IF everything goes as planned and will cost atleast 5000-7000 USD which is way too much for a music computer if you don’t work with music full time and even though we do that I will still feel pretty stupid when we go buy 3 of the new Mac Pro’s we need for our studio ...

I wouldn’t be surprised if the PC platform takes over more than 75% of the market within a year or two when Mac users need to upgrade their aging machines which again is no biggie for anyone on PT

Why anyone cares is another debate!

The title should be «*Logic Pro users are stuck...*», but then it wouldn’t have its place on this forum.

Also have to consider
- how many have answered to the poll
- where people have answered to the poll

For example, if the survey qs done in Apple Store and ten people answered, I bet the results would be 9 mac, 0 pc, 1 both

I think the bright side here is that PC has become a solid platform with W10 and users can now choose equally between Mac or PC as opposed to 10 years ago when the only option was going Mac to avoid all the problems and lack of features of Windows.

Have to say thread title completely misses the point highlighted by the article

If anything the article demonstrates exactly the opposite.... That PT users now have the choice of two viable platforms

The point of article simply means (of those who responded) a greater percentage have chosen PC over Mac which reflects the computer buying public at large.

I've been PC since the dawn of time, but I recently moved to all Mac. Guess I'm screwed!

No, the point of the article is that Protools HDX users are stuck because Avid has not updated their HDX cards to run on a Thunderbolt or USB-C connection. Because Apple has eschewed the connectivity that Protools users need for HDX cards, most of those users have moved over to PCs, where you can still buy or build systems with full-length PCIe expansion slots. That's the rock and a hard place they are talking about.

People don't want to have to spend an extra $1,500 on an expansion chassis in addition to their already insanely expensive Apple computers to use their HDX cards. If Avid were to release an HDX card wrapped in a Thunderbolt case, like they did with the HD Native card then I would expect that many Protools users would start moving back to Apple.
