Default Can I get 64 track max with PT8 & MPT 1.?

I'm not sure if I'm reading the advertising copy correctly, but
I'm currently at PT7.4cs7 & MPT1. If I just upgrade to PT8 and reinstall/keep MPT 1.something, will I still be able to get to the new 64 track max?

I think it says that, anyway...

Am I delusional again?

Pretty sure you need to update to MPT2 which I believe is a cheap update for MPT1 owners.

It's to my understanding that you'll get 48 tracks w/ PT8 and an additional 16 or a total of 64 with an upgrade for MPT.

I guess the reason I'm confused is the following, clipped from the bottom of

http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...8&itemid=35670

begin_quote

Pro Tools 8 software is required to achieve maximum simultaneous audio track counts. All current toolkit users can also achieve the same higher audio track counts (up to 64 simultaneous stereo or mono audio tracks) by simply upgrading to Pro Tools 8.

end_quote

I just don't want or need another freaking copy of SmackLE... or the TL stuff... or multitrack Beat whatever...

Yes, that's the deal. PT 8 will be 48 tracks out of the box, and 64 with existing or new V2 MPTKs.
The 49.95 upgrade from MPTK to MPTK V 2 gives you Eleven LE and Structure LE.

And Eleven LE is included in PT8 anyway, so $50 gets you Structure LE...

Yes?

Nope....PT 8.0 gets you Eleven FREE and the 49.00 upgrade gets you Eleven LE which is the full version of Eleven for native systems. Free is not LE and LE in this case does not mean crippled. Eleven LE is the same as Eleven TDM except that the TDM version will only run on TDM hardware.

The upgrade is well worth the 49.00 and you get to keep the DINR LE noise reduction asset from the original MPTK.

Recap

7.4=32 tracks standard
8.0=48 tracks standard

7.4=48 tracks with MPTK
8.0=64 tracks with MPTK or MPTK2

8.0 gains Eleven FREE
MPTK2 gains Eleven LE-drops DINR LE
MPTK>MPTK2 49.00 upgrade gains Eleven LE-keeps DINR LE

Thanks for the clarification.

I own and use current versions of both PT and Sonar.
But I'm only going to upgrade one this time.
The other will not be carried past the current version unless
they come up with something really worthwhile.
So, I'm trying to decide which one it will be, based on
both cost and capabilities.

This an answer from digidesign itself

**************************************

Bill Lackey (Bill_Lackey@digidesign.com) wrote me :

If you upgrade to PT8 and own MPTK 1 you will get 64 tracks
as well as all the other features of MPTK.

See:

http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...0&itemid=35670

<Pro Tools 8 software is required to achieve maximum simultaneous audio
track counts. All current toolkit users can also achieve the same higher
audio track counts (up to 64 simultaneous stereo or mono audio tracks)
by simply upgrading to Pro Tools 8.>

The $49 upgrade gets you Structure LE and Eleven LE if you chose to do
that.
