clipping (hot signal)
I have recently brought a small setup to record my drum kit with. As over head mics i am using two rode nt1a condenser mics. However the audio is clipping like mad and the gain on both pro tools and my interface are turned right down. I have seen and heard of these mics used for this application, so my question is how can i stop the clipping?
I have moved them away from the source which helped very little i was wondering if had done something wrong some where, or is it just my mic selection. Your help would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: clipping (hot signal)
What audio interface are you using? A lot of them have built in pads for this, usually either a button to depress or pulling out the gain knob engages the pad (if equipped)
