Default Upgrading to 7.4 problem

Hello all. Just in need of a little help if anyone could assist.

I had to reformat my computer and I have been able to successfully re-install PTs up to version 7.3.1. and get proper communication with the box and it all works fine. Everything is ok until I try to delete PTs and attempt to install 7.4. I get a "no communication with hardware". Its as if the driver is not installing properly and I only get the one blinking light on the top left of the MBOX 2 Pro. I'm on Win XP Home using Firewire. If I could just get the driver to be installed properly I would be golden. It was working before I did the reformat.

Any input appreciated.

I uninstalled the whole program and reinstalled PTs up to version 7.3.1 and it works. I restarted the computer a couple times to make sure and not a glitch to be had. Can't figure out why bumping up to 7.4 is becoming such a difficulty all of a sudden. I don't have a disk for 7.4 . I bought it online and downloaded it awhile back. There is never anything that pops up saying my file is corrupted. In my failed attempts when I did uninstall 7.3.1 before loading 7.4 there is 3 options for the uninstall and I believe I tried all of them. One basicly says "Uninstall PTs only" then the other one says "uninstal PTs and drivers" and the other one basicly says uninstall everything.

It seems to me that it is a "user error" situation here and unfortunately I'm the user. Help please. Much appreciated.

Don't know if this applies to you, but I was missing a Windows SP2 update, as my studio computer isn't hooked up to the internet. I wasn't able to load 7.4 from 7.3 either. I loaded SP3, and all went smoothly.

I guess I will have to figure which doc that is. This kind of thing sorta angers me. It seems like it shouldn't be this big a deal. I can actually stop at 7.3.1 because I'm not really using PTS at this time. Just using the soundcard for REASON. I do like the idea of having the PTs software as up to date as possible though. Thanks man.

On a side note. My QUAD is running like a charm. I think my biggest problem with it over the last few months was NOT the fact that I spilled some beer in the start button but I think I installed the wrong driver for the video card. The computer is my little rocket again.

Thanks for the input. I do have SP3 installed already. Take care.

Then you should probably consider upgrading to version 8.

Also. I was looking at some thread and somebody had a link to some file called "PT Uninstaller V. 1.2". Should I use this?

Ok!!! GOT IT!!!

I don't know exactly what helped but after I uninstalled everything there was still stuff in my programs list that I had to delete. Looked like the old and new Interlok drivers. There was Interlok x32 and another one in the list that was still installed. Plug-ins were still installed as well. Got rid of those. I ran the "Uninstaller v. 1.2" that is offered here by a user I recognize for a long time. I wasn't able to shut down AVG but I did shut down Zone Alarm.

Maybe the moral of this story is that all aspects of PTs were not uninstalled. I guess I will just go with that. I'm now fully updated PTs 7.4cs8. Feels good. I guess I'll save up for 8.0 now.
