Of course not, that is the whole point of the folder. I'd rather have folders called A, B, C, D, etc... and within a folder I could care less if the hundreds of clip names were totally random

I have to say I agree with Frank here.

I regularly have thousands (probably tens of thousands) of clips in the clip list on a reasonably complex feature film and I haven't really been concerned about no folders in the clip list since about Pro Tools 5 or 6 when various improvements were made for managing the clip list.

Between the clip list search functions, including the clip list search history, and the various clip list sort options, I don't feel any real need for folders in the clip list, and I suspect I wouldn't really use them, since my asset management process is pretty entrenched in my workflow.

I'm happy to be proved wrong though!

Sure, all a matter of opinion. And I can live without it, but surely would find it useful.

How does the Solo function work? Will it work like a VCA (imo the right way) or the not so functional AUX way?

Can you have Auxes inside a folder? I can't imagine why you can't, but I haven't seen an example where that's happening. All the photos just show audio tracks inside folders. I could be wrong and just missed it. It would be very nice to have an audio track, and then put reverb on it via an aux track and then put both those tracks inside a folder.

You must be able to do this?

Yes.

Folder tracks ( 2 types) are either simple containers (Basic Folder) or Containers + routing (Routing Folder) and can contain any kind of track ProTools supports. Folder tracks also have activity monitors (Audio & Midi) so you can see events are being triggered within when the folders are collapsed.

Audio, Midi, Instrument tracks Auxs and VCAs... yes!
I'm unclear on what you mean by groups though.
