Default With PT8 Out...

I'm really curious now...with PT8 out, how many of you HD owners will be tempted to use an LE system instead of, or along with your HD systems? I'm at a point now where I have the money for an HD system, but at this point it seems as though I could potentially just as easily get PT 8 with the Toolkit and get whole bunches of tracks to be able to track and mix in.

Any thoughts for yays or nays to this? I should also mention my work flow. I don't generally track more than 8 inputs at once, I do full bands in pieces, not all at once just because I don't have the space for that. I'm currently using a 002r.

A few people I've talked to have stated they'd like to downsize they're studios if PT8 would allow them on an LE scale. So - no, it's rather genuine. But apparently you wont be messing with LE anytime soon, eh?

To me there is more to HD than just track count. To name a few:
-more busses
-'real-time' mixer for hardware inputs regardless of the amount of delay compensation going on.
-auto delay compensation
-the finest automation system available (IMO)

...not to mention very low and predictable latency when monitoring through TDM plugins.

I know the automation quite well in LE, but what's the difference HD has in automation?

Visit my blog for HD automation demo videos. Its a monstrous topic too big to go into with words IMO, particularly the videos below:

Even with ADC i dont understand why anyone would downsize.

LE is great for mobile rigs and home studios but a HD system is a must for any professional studio.

As a HD1 owner and with the prices of HD accel cards in absurdland, I'm temped. Building a eight core machine and to run plugins as RTAS (as I'm not that big of a audiophile) is perfectly acceptable to me.
