I asked the same question a little while ago. Vari-Fi is the easy easy option, if you don't have it then use Elastic Audio (Look at audiogeekzine's post).

Are you talking about a mIdI instrument? If so, which one?

I'm having the trouble using a midi instrument, as opposed to audio. The sound I'm using is a sax sound. When i've tried to draw out the pitch bend on the track view selector, but it only allows me to draw the pitch bend up or down by two semi-tones. However, i need to pitch bend notes of the sax sound by up to an octave at times.

Does anyone know a solution?

Cool Re: Pitch bend

Manley,

To get more than the two semi-tones your getting, you will need to go into Xpand and reprogram the pitch bend. See Pro Tools Creative Collection Plug-ins Guide pg. 58.

Hope this helps.

It's easier in Xpand2 (PT8) than it is in Xpand (for older versions)..

There is a thread in the VI forum, where I think Filosofem listed how to do so in the older version..

In Xpand2, one of the fields is labeled "PB" and it usually defaults to 2... Just change 2 to whatever you need...

You need a RPN and NRPN supported device.

For me, using sampletank as my synth, i go to the synth control and change bender to whatever value i want. Which synth program are you using? the control to change your pitch bend value should be in this program somewhere
