I've spent so many years learning and being more efficiant with Protools. I'm not gonna switch now.
I'll follow the industry, Protools is still the most used apps in recording studios worldwide.
For me compatibility with recording studios is my priority.

I switched already. I would switch back if things changed though.

I bought PTLE for a “project studio” as a hobby, not as a profession. I don’t make my money with it, although I always intended to change that.

I am taking classes on DSP and Audio, and I hope to one day make my living writing audio software, rather than “business” software. I bought PTLE so that I could learn the platform that was used most widely. However, VST is an open platform and RTAS is a closed platform. This forced me to change platforms. BTW It is also why there are so many more VST plugs than RTAS.

I also wanted better midi support and I happen to like the interface to SX better. It is much more intuitive for me, and the way I work.

My concerns were music creativity, software creativity & industry standards (software/hardware) compatibility.

If Digi had better midi and a better interface, if they opened RTAS, and were Rewire, VST, ASIO, DirectX, etc. compatible, I would be back on board.

I used Cubase and went TO Pro Tools, when I thot I wouldn't switch. A thousand VSTi plugins is all well and good, but if I want hardly any of them, which I don't, it means nothing to me. I do like SX, but I'm gonna pitch my tent in the land of Sumich-san, as I said before. The land here looks more glorious with each rise of the sun.

Btw, if you can afford a thousand plugins, would you hire me please??

Still waiting to buy SX and a Layla. At the mo' I have VST 5 release 6 so at least Rewire II, Reason and Recycle. I like Cubase better for the workflow and midi functionality, but for audio I liked PTLE better. Hope to get rid of some nasty timing issues when jumping to SX, then hopefully a glorious period will start

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">you should download the 5.1 update. it gives a few new soft synths and some cool new plugins(one is a filter thats like the "matrix" sequencers in reason, but just in the filter aspect)

I as well use both. cubase sx for midi and PTLE for audio. love them both!

Hi,

I'm going to switch to SX because PTLE (XP) sucks.
It seems like the digi people didn't know the words "big", "latency" and "stable" wheen were developing the 001

Perhaps I'll get Samplitude for pure recording sessions, I must admit that this (audio editing )is perhaps the only lack of Cubase.

BTW: I can save the money for a midi controller because SX has a GREAT Yamaha 01v integration, PT does not.

I was really disappointed with the release of 002. I am sure it is a great product, but it doesn't fit into my plan. What I need is system compatability with what I already have in my studio, so I have opted for the more open architecture of SX. Sorry guys, I guess I'm just a casualty of war.
