Default WAVES plugs not mapping

Regarding D-Command

None of my Waves plugs (RENN MAXX Bundle) will map over to the Dynamics and/or EQ sections. All my other plugs do?

These are Waves Version 4.0.5_X.
OSX 10.4.4
PTS 6.9.3 TDM

Is this a known issue and/or am I missing something?

You will need v5 of the plug ins plus the ICON .xml file for the mapping.

I am not sure if version 4 will map at all. The XML file applies to version 5 as far as I know. Don't know if 4 will be able to use it.

Exactly, and for that waves will ask you to join their WUP thingy. Which basically means your going to have to pay an annual contribution just to see your plugins map to your controller.

Frankly I don't miss them. And pay for WUP .... I probably will eventually ... but on my priority list before I do that are : 1. dancing naked on the moon. 2. going on a date with Catherine Zetha Jones. 3. stop illegal music downloads.

After that I'll pay for WUP ... promised.

Thanks gentlemen for the Waves information.

It's funny how life works (well maybe not?). I Just got the D-Command hand have been trying to get up to speed asap as I need to show it to some students on Monday (now that's cramming). The session I've been using is full of waves plugs and I spent almost an hour tearing my hair out trying to figure out why the EQ and Dynamics section wasn't responding. It was only on a whim that I instantiated a non waves EQ to test and voila ... discovery made !!!!

BTW ... the Tips thread on the D-Command/Control has been a GREAT help getting up to speed. I am coming from a ProControl so that also helps. We are still an Analog Console/ProTools hybrid facility with the D-Command as a side car for teaching control surface interface but we will have full blown control surfaces without the analog console soon.

Any other tips you could point to for improving the learning curve would be appreciated. The manual is well ..... let's say it could be a lot better .... and ah ... ahem .... where's the index?

Regards ... DG

Yeah ... where's the index dammit ....

imvho, depending on your general level of pro tools features knowledge .... the learning curve shoudn't be all that difficult. If you come from a Pro Control you're allready more then familiar with a controller functionality.

If you have the controller at hand, the best thing to do is to start in the beginning of the manual and check everything you read in the manual on the controller. Not a detailed study but rather an objective run-through. I wouldn't stop at any particular point or if something isn't clear ... don't worry about it. Continue as it may well explain itself once you get through the entire concept. Because that's what it is .... a concept ... get a bright picture of the concept first. Once that is clear every feature will start making sense.
