Yamaha must have changed something then because the original Motif I have is a nightmare to get to control anything external via it's controls. Especially if one uses 5 pin MIDI which is what I use as none of my other MIDI hardware has USB ports. I route everything via my MOTU MIDI Timepiece AVUSB MIDI interface which has traditional 5 pin MIDI ports. Then do my routing via MOTU's s/w. I even route through that to control the Motif's internal sound generator(s). Would be great if I could control some of the controls on my Moog Voyager rack mount synth
What would simplify things if Yamaha had a 'controls only' mode where each control spit out a specific MIDI message.
