Default Creating a glass harmonica?

Like it says on the tin...
Anyone know how to recreate the sound of a glass harmonica?

What a great instrument with a lot of cool history. Essentially, a glass harmonica is little more than an ergonomically designed "automatic" set of high quality leadded crystal wine glasses. (The lead in the crystal actually led to the death of many of the virtuosi of the instrument, this led to the connotation of eeriness with the instrument in modern times and in film making. No one knew at the time why all the players were dying so young, so it was chalked up to the instrument or the music or the sound simply being EVIL!)

These instruments are really rare and I don't know of any museum curators willing to let an engineer borrow one, so I imagine that if you got a good set of really fine crystal, you could play it part by part until you got everything you needed. Add gobs of verb or something to make it more like the real thing. I don't know of any synths that bother trying to make the sound, but you might luck out by going to a colleges art department with a few pictures and see if one of the students into glass blowing would like to give it a go. Good luck man.

Well, it's easier than that. A quick web search on Glass Harmonica yielded the following link:
http://www.finkenbeiner.com

Apparently, this guy builds and sells them - so it would be simple to just sample one. The simple, pure tone leads me to believe it would be even easier to just synthesize it.

i saw this thread this morning and i thought, 'nah, that's not what i was thinking about'. well, it is. its a fantastically cool instrument. if you get the chance, get up to corning, NY for a demo. i'm sure they'd let you sample it. they're glass specialists, but not so concerned about the instrument. they're more into hi-tech stuff like fibre optics and so on.

this thing was invented by ben franklin, you know...

This is all very interesting,
and I'd love to own a glass harmonica myself,
but..
I was rather thinking of how I might synthesize the sound, or get samples somewhere.
Actually it gets worse: I'm still trying to figure out how to recreate an organillo, and a theramin. The latter is the easiest by far.
(So, what kind of music am I making here?)

<hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Yeah, but Ben Franklin invented Al Gore.

It was kind of like when young Anakin Skywalker built C3-PO.

Young Ben built Al out of some used shoes, and an old bookcase. The key on the kite string was actualy tied to the bolts on his neck.

It's alive! ALIVE!...well, sort of.
