Hi Folks,
Total purchase price of all gear - $4800.00, and I got a straight trade for the Strat - no money exchanged hands! What an investment, huh?
Are you high? An Original 62 Strat? Well, if it really was an original Strat, I'd say you made the dud deal of the century......

I love pawnshops...

Found a Moog Rogue in a pawnshop in Colorado for $50. Perfect condition, sounds fantastic.

Found a 1987 Les Paul Custom in Chicago for $600, around the corner from the Guitar Center selling them for $1500 or more. Not that an '87 is a big deal, but it's a nice guitar.

I picked up a few Electra guitars in the mid-90's for $80 apiece before the EBay collectors' market sent them soaring above $500.

Not a pawnshop: I went to a going-under auction in Michigan and got 2 Chandler Tube Drivers (great for crunchy guitar tones) for $25 apiece and a 4x12 slant cabinet for $40.

And a '63 or '64 Ampeg Reverbrocket amp that was just sitting in someone's basement was just handed to me one day when I was over visiting. Nice!

Oh my,
this is my bread-n-butter so to speak.

Since I've never dated it, 1x 4-Track Ampex Tube R-to-R $15.00

It WORKS and was covered and stored for X-amount of years (was a estate sale, or a "snobs" -garage sale. Ran test tape through it, made minor tweaks, all tubes work. Still do as far as I know, the last time I used it was about 11 years ago)

By YEAR

1949 Les Paul Jr. (P-90's have been rewound 3 times now as I'm stupid enough to play it at shows!) $50.00
1951 Gretsch Chet Atkins Country Gentlemen, $750.00
1963 Orange120 1/2 Stack WITH COVERS $500.00
1965 Jazz Bass $200.00
1968 SG "Stapler Special" $400.00
This one is Very Rare
has Triple Humbuck's
Bigsby tailpiece
and the main reason it's "Very Rare", is in that year, Gibson did not dot the "i" in Gibson on the headstocks.

(All above are garage sales)

"Undated, but is post CBS, so my guess is mid '70's" Fender Reverb Tank- $100.00

1963-5 (never figured it out) Vox Cambridge. Think of it as a "Mini-AC30" with only 1x 10" $35.00
1967 Gibson L6 Acoustic. Cheap Acoustic guitar, but has a beautiful low-end to it for such a POS (by "vintage acoustic guitar standards") $350.00 It is my only acoustic and never touches anothers hand.
1971 Univox, "Ventures Mosrite" Copy Short Scale Bass, not nearly as good as the original, but is my main 'gigger' and has taken more abuse than it ever wanted or deserved $200.00
1973 Les Paul Custom (Wine Color) $75.00
Late 70's 50watt (tube) HiWatt head that was originaly stolen. Shop held it for 6 months, even called the cops when they got it. Back panel was filed, but worn down to a dull sheen and interior wood had been sanded down.
My 3 guesses, a really bad band breakup up, competition, or Drug deal- $150.00

5 different Electro Harmonix Big Muff PIEs varying from mid 60's-to-today
2 Vox Fuzztone $75.00 for both, and they sound completely different from each other (ran numerous combinations on 'em to)
One 60's TUBE EchoPlex
One 70's Transistor EchoPlex
Free (Go to a certain Shop WAY TOO MUCH), had to repair, Tried it myself, but $175.00 got 'em both working

And, I won't bore anyone with the collection of "80's-on-up-till-today" guitar pedals, but my repairman and myself collect pedals, as everyone else collects the guitars LOL!!!

BTW,
Great Topic choice El CaCa!!!

A couple of those must be ultra rare since Mike Matthews didn't start EH until '68 and the Big Muff as we know it wasn't introduced until '70. Do tell.

Back when I was the stage manager at an arena, We did a giant festival and after if was over a bands' bus broke down outside the venue. Since I was the only one still there they asked me for a hundred bucks. I said sure but ya gotta leave me some collateral. So the guitar player leaves me a guitar saying I'll come back for this tomarrow. A week later he still hasn't called so I look inside the case.....
A 1969 les paul deluxe. all original. Seven years later, I'm still waiting for his call!

1962 ES125 for $200 a few months ago. It's not the best Gibson ever made but it's my best deal.

Some awesome gear you've found, you all. I have bought almost everythig from Pawnshops but here's the best deal. A split Soundcraft Ghost for 75$ Canadian. Today the club I'm doing an install for gave me 2 dbx 163x compressors for free but the best deal by far goes to my friend. He went to our local guitar store and bought a cream Les Paul Custom for 1400 cdn. Sadly it got ripped off about 5 months ago but the insurance company used the serial numbers from it on the reciepts to value it. Turns out it was a 1991 LP Custom Hand built by a master luthier, (sorry i dont know the name) it looks like Randy Rhodes or Steve Jones guitars. The insurance check for replacement was 9995cdn.
