Default A quick Q, re; drive formatting...

Hi all,

I have a live, off the floor acoustic gig coming up.
The studio's HD Accel computer is on OSX and my client's FW drive was formatted on OS9.
Should I do a full re-format, to be compatible ?
Also, what performance can I expect on a G4 /Dual 1.25Ghz computer hosting an HD Accel II, with 3X 96 IO's ? I'll need to go 96/24 for no more than 18-20 recording tracks at the time...
There will be no plugins used.

Thanx in advance for your responses,

How long do you need to record for (how long's the show)?

The computer'll be more than fine.. it'll be all about if you need another drive. Formatting instructions are in the Troubleshooting thread in this forum, but I've had no problems using OS 9.2.2 formatted HFS+ drives in OS X.

Whatever you end up with.. you should do a stress test run to make sure the system and drives can record for a sustained period with the max number of tracks... before the gig... especially when using a system which isn't your own and you have no idea how it's set up. If you can't get into the studio for the amount of time required beforehand... make sure that you tell the studio manager what you'll expect of the system before you arrive so they can test it before you get there.

Thanx Rail,

I'll need to record up to 10 mins/PT session.
Do I need a second FW drive to split the allocation up ?
As I've mentioned 18-20 tracks max.
The studio is where I work. No problem for testing before hand.

again, thank you...
