Default Gibson Guitars Files for Bankruptcy

On Tuesday Gibson filed for bankruptcy. They have reached a deal with their creditors that will allow the company to survive.

wow that is great.....I hope it works out for them.

I know fender had a rough time in the 80's and all companies go through it...

Best of luck gibson and bring the prices down.

Stupid BBC World News America has a scroll in the bottom of their broadcast saying "Gibson Guitar Firm Goes Out Of Tune".

Really informative!

I actually like that - sounds right. There is an article on Market Watch 'As Gibson Brands files for bankruptcy, are guitars out of tune with America' here: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/as...ica-2018-05-02

BTW they filed for chapter 11 protection. Guess they didn't get enough money from selling off Cakewalk/Sonar.

Had a plumber over yesterday doing some work and he saw I was a musician and as he worked he talked about his kids looking to take up guitar. I told him Fender was pretty good seeing as how I have several axes from them. Also told him to stay away from Gibson as the quality of late has been questionable. This was before finding out about the bankruptcy deal. As he walked out he asked if I would sell any of mine and my wife said NO! I love that woman

The story here in Nashville is that they're selling off the electronics portions and focusing on guitars...
