Multichannel plug-in vs Multi-mono plug-in?
What's the difference between a "multichannel plug-in" and a "multi-mono plug-in"?
On my first insert at the top "D-Verb" it doesn't list either before giving me my FX choices. On the second insert, though, it lists those and then shows FX uder each. Separately, do I want FX "D-Verb (mono)" or "D-Verb (mono/stereo)" on a vocal track? What's the difference? Thanks! Ron

Re: Multichannel plug-in vs Multi-mono plug-in?
You'll want mono/stereo for all reverbs on mono sources in order for the reverb itself to be in stereo. Multichannel plugs are used on stereo sources, and the effects processing is linked in some manner, depending on the effect. Multi-mono plugs are used on stereo sources as well, but the effect is applied to each side independently. For reverbs I would use multichannel to make sure the exact same reverbs aren't coming out both channels, which would be mono.
My most common use of multi-mono is when I need to apply different EQ to each side. Can't think of another use at the moment. |
