Default Looking for a good multichannel Pre Amp????

I'm currently using Avalon 737, 2xAPI 512, Pro Sonus M80 and a Mackie 8X32 board. I try not to use the mackie if not needed. I would like to get either a 8 channel or maybe a 2 channel.
Thanks
JE

hi,
I use the Avalon too and like it very much. I was also looking for the same sort of thing.
I ended up with the Oram Octasonic. If you do like vintage (very warm sound) than this is more than a good opportunity. This is a lot for the pice!!

but it is all a matter of taste as we know.

hope it helps

cheers,

Juergen

I traded my Avalon 737 for the Great River MP-2NV http://www.mercenary.com/greatrivelmp.html . They are worlds apart and I'm glad I made the decision. Much warmer and bigger sound (Neve 1073). For multichannel I've heard nothing but great things about the Cranesong Spider 8 channel. Comes with 8 channels of high end A/D also http://www.mercenary.com/cranspid.html .
Good luck,
Allen

What do you TDM (and Control 24, I guess) users think about Focusrite Platinum preamps that come standard with Control 24: I'm asking because I'm thinking about getting the Octopre, which is the same preamp circuit. How do they sound, is worth spending for the brand or it's "just" the brand and they are stock cheap board pres?

Thanx

L.G.

The True Systems Precision 8 is a fabulous unit. Somberly packaged, it doesn't get the attention the machined aluminum faceplate crowd does, of course. I have a lot of faith in the transparence of the unit; it's what I track drums with although I do use Tab Funkenwerk V72's for the KM184 overheads. Anyway, I can't recommend the Precision 8 enough for bang for the buck in a small package. I'm sure I'll but a second unit someday...

Best wishes,

John Caldwell

John,

Thanks for the info on the True Systems, sounds like it's the box I'm looking for. I've got a 9098 DMA for overheads & I want an 8 channel unit to cover the rest of the kit. I'd love to get to the point where I'm only using my Mackie as a keyboard mixer and for the monitor section.
