I had this exact problem on my 12 core machine when I went to Yosemite and 11.3. I fixed the problem by replacing my old graphics card with a ATI 5770. I bought it used from PowerMax for $200.

Also, you should seriously consider using an SSD as a system drive. Big difference.

I can confirm the Graphics card update fixed it for me. The GT 120 just could not keep up. Upgraded to a cheap flashed ATI 5770 for $85.

Two monitors, both Edit and Mix windows open and multiple plug in skins open.

FYI. Went back to 11.2.2. I couldn't take the jerky faders any longer. It started affecting my mixing.
Maybe they'll have somn after the NAMM show, HOPEFULLY.

I hope they would fix it ... and oh btw ... whenever I set the mix window and edit window each on a monitor and exit the project ... when I re open it the mixer window disappears and i have to move it back again to the other monitor ... this issue was not available in previous versions ...

Reverted back to OS 10.9.5 using PT 11.3. No graphics issues. Problem only occurred on the update to Yosemite.

Same here, thanks for that, I went back to compare Mavericks 10.9.5 and Yosemite. PT 11.3 graphics solid enough to have three monitors up and windows on each; mix, edit, and one monitor for multiple plugins, transport, virtual instruments and extras.

Also, Yosemite wouldn't remember the window configurations or even the screen savers, but Mabvericks does.

Still some unexpected PT quits but less than with Yosemite...so far.

Good to know. System is very stable under 10.9.5 and PT 11.3. Thanks for the input.

I agree... I have the top of the line late 2013 iMac Quad Core and the visual timeline of Pro Tools is just super jittery and not buttery smooth like DAWs are and should be.

WHY DO WE PAY SO MUCH FOR NO NEW FEATURES AND AN "INDUSTRY STANDARD" that is increasingly becoming NOT an industry standard?

I think we'd all be fine paying a lot of money to at least have a feature set of tools and a stable DAW that is far beyond others... but that is TOTALLY not anywhere the case. We have to mix features and high level music work ON BUGGY SOFTWARE!!!

Pisses me off so much that AVID is destroying the brand.

Same issue. Just upgraded my entire recording rig and have this problem I never had before. Workaround is the same - close Edit window. Ridiculous.
