Default Page Scroll function doesn\'t work right

Hello Digi,

After the update from PT6 to PT7 the Page Scroll function doesn't work right. Especially with longer recordings the page scroll is giving problems. This is very troubling because in that case there is no visual feedback and therefor we have to move the timeline manually during the recording sessions. Is this a bug or is there another problem?

Besides this you'll find a little wish list for future upgrades below:

- List in which you can choose which disk(s) Pro Tools uses
Pro Tools recognises every permanent or removable disk immediately as potential audio drive. PT places the folder 'Digidesign Databases' immediately. This is quite tricky. Especially when using an USB stick or something of that kind. Now you have to close Pro Tools first before you can remove the disk. It would be nice if there was an option (list) to choose the restricted disk(s) from.

- Finder store
Changes in the appearance of Finder use are not being remembered. Every time you make a change of the export or import screen (an enlargement, the change in the listorder etc.) your set up is gone the next time. Only the location is being remembered. It would be great if Pro Tools (like for example Photoshop or Illustrator) saved the changes per project or something like that.

- Non-realtime Bounce
It would be nice to have a 2x or 4x bounce to disk.

Furthermore I would like to thank you for the great software and supporting two platforms in such an accurate ways. Chapeau! Lots of companies should do the same. The D-Command works a 100% faultless, Pro Tools never crashes and there finally is a 'Bounce to disk' shortcut.

Cheers,
Paul

Default Re: Page Scroll function doesn\'t work right

Hi,

Page scroll:... have you gone to options and selected the scroll option that you want? or what problem are you having?

Unmounting a disk:... you don't have to close PT to unmount a disk!! go to workspace and select the disk, then go to the top left pull down menu and select unmount.

2 x 4 x bounce:... how would this work with reverb tails, outboard midi and outboard processors etc!!

Chris

Default Page Scroll function doesn\'t work right

Hi Crizdee,

Thanks for your reply.

Page Scroll: yes, Scrolling > Page is selected. Page scroll doesn't work right!

Unmounting a disk: Okay, you don't have to close PT for unmounting a disk. Thanks for the tip. But that's not exactly the problem. PT recognises every disk / USB stick immediately as potential audio drive. Why? Wouldn't it be easier if you could point out which disk(s) should limit to PT. For example 1 or 2 audio disks. And not every iPod USB stick and system disk. Well, it isn't that big of a problem. It just seems easier to me.

Non-realtime Bounce: Not with external gear and/or midi ofcourse! More like a batch processor. The same way Nuendo does it. Think of: audio post, projects with a large number of files (games, e-learning, etc.). For previews or jobs with a tight time schedule.

Cheers,
Paul
