It is very weird and disappointing that it is not possible to copy files between the two drives on the adapter card. I will naturally test this out once I have it, but I feel it is a major problem. If one of the drives is the system drive, you would probably download all new files to one of the drives and then very often move/copy it across to a second drive for storage or just to go with other files of the same type. Surely this is something a firmware update should be able to fix?

Only true tech geeks care about this for protools. I don't think protools will use 5 percent of the bandwidth of these things.

I want I want. I'll wait for the transfer bug to be fixed 1st though.

I doubt it, because the drives likely interface thru PCIe which means all data out of the drive must go out and get back in, bottlenecking at PCIe

But, it sure boots fast, faster then fast, OMG fast.

Did I see you were on the RX560? Are you still getting the boot screen? I have an EVO 960 on an angel wings and my boot time is very slow.

Considering the crest now!

OK thanks, I was thinking not and issue, because my Boot drive with PT on it, is the 951 (ACHI) listed below and there is no cross file format issue with the HHD PT session storage drive being HFS ....... I will report back once I get the Crest and EVO's and do the install

I just installed the Sapphire RX 580 on my system below. My boot drive is the Samsung SM 951 AHCI on a Lycom D120 PCIe adaptor (gets Black Magic Read/Write speed test of about 1200-1300

No I do not get a boot screen but my Boot time from turn computer on to desktop, is about 30 seconds

But they must have thought about this scenario?? Anyway, PostNord’s app says it will arrive tomorrow. So I will test this.

FYI: The 2TB SSD drive in one of the bays is working nicely with the ssd drives. Yes, it would be great to be able to move larger/multiple files between the two 970s, but I am very happy.

If someone finds a firmware update that fixes it please post. I couldn’t find any. Called Samsung, they said there are not any. They thought it was a Crest adapter issue.

Loading software today was a nightmare. I have had more crashes today than I have ever had. Well over 25 times. Downloading from the developer’s websites, trying to install, crash, freeze, crash. Hard drives disappearing off my desktop. Safari getting stuck in a loop trying to log onto the download section of the site. This is anything but stable when it comes to moving data.

I am done for today.
