Default 12.6.1 / aae-9173 anyone?

Hi guys,

I agree with everyone that 12.6.1 is a solid step in the right direction. MIDI and breakpoints have been solved. Apparently, so has the click issue. Good work, Avid.

However (I'm on Windows 10), I still get -9173 errors even when CPU usage is 25%. Never had this prior to PT12. Every other DAW I know handles CPU efficiently. Is anyone else still getting these errors?

Yes I got the 9173 the other day with just one single V.I instance running .., all I was doing was checking out the MODO Bass.

Hi Seafoam,

Has it been just this one time or does it happen frequently? I've lost where I saw this, but someone else was literally getting these things like almost every five minutes... I get them maybe 4-6 times a day, sometimes even when I've disabled core 0.

I haven't been able to put a finger on what actually causes this thing, but for me it usually happens during editing, either MIDI or audio.

There are things I can do that will always cause these errors, but other times they happen here without a clue as to why.

Always post what you were doing when you get them, Avid is working to solve this, but they need any information you can offer.

Even posting dlogs here may help.

It's still happening here. Not as frequent as the previous versions but still a nuisance, to say the least, especially in front of clients.

It happens randomly , always when using MIDI . I was also getting it more with the last version , but it certainly has not ended the errors in 12.6.1

a lot of -9173 here when using midi and instruments

not at all when just mixing with plugins.. I compared 12.5.2 and 12.6.1 both on the same machine (I have 2 systems running) and its exactly the same with -9173 errors
I think its more a problem of the way those software synths use memory and cpu power than protools itself..

I always have Bluetooth and WiFi off when running Pro Tools 12.5.2 on 10.10.5.

I received the 9173 error the other day. My WiFi was on. Turned it off, now back to a stable system.

It's worth a try.

Hi guys,

Thanks for posting. I was beginning to think I was doing something wrong. I know workarounds that reduce the frequency, but it's still a serious nuisance. Other than that, 12.6.1 is a definite improvement over the other versions after 12.4

Thanks Tom,

It's good to know Avid is aware, and that they're working on it. Hope it happens soon!
