Default DEVIL INSIDE

i am kinda unhappy about the marketing strategy digidesign is representing .
any new released single tool gets more and more expensive , means unpayable for usual people . i am a big fan of their audio solutions but i think its time that they show their support like we showed ours .
how can a remote like the procontrol be same priced as an used amek desk ??? why are the tdm plugins twice as expensive as the none tdm ? dont tell me it has to be that way or the programming is more complicated !
i am just wondering how long it takes till they realize , that a lot of not " michael jackson " producers are using their stuff , too . should be a balance somehow , nike shoes are expensive , too , but not twice as expensive as adidas thats same quality. OPINIONS !!!

I have to agree. Prices are all over the place and surely not justified.
I also believe that the software technology is not an exact science and we, the users, are the real testers of these products. We send our feedbacks and problems back to Digi and their partners. Bugs are then fixed upon a new version release and we have to pay quiet a lot of money to get it and to find new problems and so on.... It's an endless loop costing time, money and frustration but at the end of projects, clients are always looking for cutting down the price due to computer/software bugs or crashes.
We understand the expensive ongoing development of the technology and research that needs to take place but some products like nodes shouldn't cost $200. There is no need for very nice looking software packaging that will end up in a closet or trash can after its install.

I also forgot to mention the horrible price of expansion chassis which are as expensive as a some G4s but look very empty inside. As far as I know there is a lot more electronics and hardware programming inside a G4.
A sales person from Magma told me "yes but our chassis are made in the US"...
So are the G4s.

Hi,

When I got my G4 is came through customes in Alaska. It was manufactured/assembled somewhere in the Pacific Rim.

A PCI-PCI expansion chasis is expensive for several reasons.

1. PCI Bridge chips aren't cheap and you need
several of them.
2. A chassis with power supply costs money.
3. You need to make PC boards.
4. Those cables are impedence controlled.
5. Economy of scale. Apple makes a whole lot
of computers. How many expansion chassis
do you think get amde in a year?
