Exclamation Issues With PT8...

Hi, I'm really having annoying issues with Pro tools 8, I'm a new Pro Tools user, but I've been using Logic for a couple of years, so I know how a DAW works, the thing is that whenever I run PT8 on my mac book pro, after 15 minutes or less and just with a couple of plug ins here and there, PT8 will stop, and tell me to check the buffer size, or the other message that says that has lost connection with my digi 003. Man, Im telling you that this thing happens ALL the times that I run PT8, a friend told me that it was maybe Leopard 10.5.6 so I re-installed leopard with 10.5.5 and had the same freaking problem... Just to let you know guys this thing never happened with Logic, so it's not computer power that I missing (I think), unless PT8 its a really CPU hungry monster.

Well whatever answer or possible solution please reply to this...

THANK YOU

I'm a relative newbie running an iMac, 003 & PT LE 8 too. I also see the same issue fairly frequently.

Would be interested to see what others think...

1. Try increasing your buffer size & processor performance.
2. Install the Pro Tools 8 updates (I think there are links posted as stickys on this forum)
3.
Check at all your plugins are compatible with Pro Tools 8 and that you have the correct updates. Most of the non-Digi plugins are likely to need an update. Look within the 'support' section on the Digidesign website.
4. Check all your leads running to your PC and from your PC.
5. Double check all the manuals that you have it set up correctly.

How powerful is your CPU? How much RAM do you have?, etc....

About the processor performance, a friend of mine has a Mac pro. He had to DECREASE the amount of processors for his system to rooll smoothly without annoying error messages. Always leave at least 1 processor available for your system is my advice.
