Default New Mac Minis & ProTools

The new bigger Mac Minis come with "Mac OS X Server 10.6.4" - is the server version qualified for PTLE?

Default Re: New Mac Minis & ProTools

or has anyone even tried it??

edit: i just did. boy what a miserable day of headaches. so the studio owners went out and buy a new mac mini, and just see higher price mini, assuming that equals better. got it out of the box, configured it to not run any kind of services, and tried to install 8.0.3... it installed in under 4 minutes without any errors (which i thought was suspect)

rebooted, tried to start pro tools and got the continual loop of downloading PACE drivers. installed 8.0.4 (which took nearly 20 mins) and would always get "could not find digi hardware" using the 003. 003 never shows up in audio, only "digidesign core audio device". selecting this resulted in no playback with iTunes.

tried to use a 10.6.2 SL disc to get rid of server, but turns out that the new mini servers need at least a 10.6.3 disc. ARRRR. so off i go to the apple store.

too long? didn't read? SL Server doesn't like Pro Tools LE. don't bother.

Is that the end?!?! im very curious as well. It may not run right yet but is the new mac mini a fair contender for PT8 LE?
