Default Legacy interfaces will be supported but no PPC or PCI

Reading the newest announcement, is it correct that legacy interfaces will now be supported but there will be no PPC or PCI card support?

Does this mean that there will not be a properly functioning version of protools 8 on PPC or PCI?

Will there be a cs update to fix the current ADC and midi problems?

thanks!

That's the way it looks. Bummer.
Better be some sweet upgrade offers around the corner.

i didn't see where they said they were dropping support for pci cards. You're saying no more HD pci card support? If that's the case I'm going to go cry...

I haven't seen any mention of such a thing.

I don't think all PCIe to PCI chassis are being dropped, I read the EOSS as saying that just the digidesign branded "Expansion|HD chassis" will be unsupported. But even if that is the case, I wouldn't be surprised to see PCI support eventually go, probably when apple drops support for it in their OS... If they haven't already. Apple hasn't shipped anything with PCI slots for several years, and now that they've dropped PPC support it only makes sense now that they have no need to keep supporting PCI.

Remember when Nubus was abandoned by apple, it was game over for Nubus PTIII owners, there was never a PCI-Nubus chassis. So compared to that, it's been pretty cool that early adopters of HD have been able to keep their old cards and still upgrade to a modern computer for the last few years.

True to a point. No more PCIX. BUT... you are fine with the Magma chassis... which your intel mac sees as a PCIe card.

The only chassis that is getting dropped here is the Digi branded one. NOT the Magma PE6R4. The Digi one, if memory serves correct, was a problem from the get go.

Magma works like a champ.

Which leads us to the next logical question... Has anyone verified that their PE6R4 works under snow leopard?

Is there any reason to think that the Magma PE6R4 will be dropped any time soon?
