Default Well technically not about MIDI but i have a problem

So I have installed Pro Tools and the the Mbox. Whenever I do an audio track with a mic cable from my guitar to the Mbox, Pro Tools recognizes and records the guitar fine, being able to play it back with no question. BUT when I plug in a keyboard using a TRS line on an instrument track, Pro Tools only recognizes the signal from the keyboard, but when I try to record what I'm playing it doesn't record. SOMEONE HELP

You're using some terminology incorrectly and it is difficult to know what you mean, exactly..

Guitar uses a 1/4 unbalanced TS cable, not a mic cable which is XLR..

You can not record audio (which a guitar creates) onto an instrument track. Audio gets recorded to audio tracks..

Are you recording a MIDI guitar by any chance?

Again, for the AUDIO from a keyboard you would record to an AUDIO track. To record the MIDI from a keyboard, you record to either a MIDI or an INSTRUMENT track...

OK, so you need to use and audio track for the keyboard if all you want to record is the audio. Instrument tracks record MIDI

And that's just weird.. Does it have active pickups or something?

The mbox handles DI and Line level signals through the 1/4" jack, if I'm not mistaken. You would want to set it for line level. I'm not familiar with the actual button you have to use on the mbox..

Its an acoustic Dean Performer guitar. It has a TRS output and an XLR output. I use the XLR because it gives better quality.

On my Mbox2 the DI input is 1/4 in only. I would try the mic input from that XLR out of your acoustic, and see what you get. For the Keyboard, try the DI.

Either way, both get recorded to Audio tracks for sure, unless you are going to record through an Aux track, and then to an Audio track, but let's get this going first...lol
