Default Possible workaround PT crashing on startup with 10.4.9

I finally figured out how to get PT up and running on my Mac Pro with 10.4.9. I believe I am having the same symptom others have described where PT crashes immediately after being launched with the following error:

<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>
Thread 0 Crashed:
0 dyld 0x8fe12f94 stub_binding_helper_interface + 18
1 <<00000000>> 0x00000000 0 + 0
2 <<00000000>> 0x01a0e134 0 + 27320628
</pre><hr />

I have tried all the suggested workarounds such as the combo 10.4.9 updater, the PACE rebinding, rebinding from the command line, trashing prefs, etc. with no improvement. I will say that I'm a bit miffed that this appears to be an issue related to the PACE copy protection built into Pro Tools. This kind of protection always seems to hurt legitimate users. Of course I could be wrong about this but that error shows up in relation to PACE and to other audio products like Max . And then of course there is the fact that prebound executables are deprecated and unnecessary at this point. But I digress...

In debugging this I found that if I fire up Terminal, and launch the application from there, it just works! I have no further problems when using the app. I just run:

<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>
/Applications/Digidesign/Pro\ Tools/Pro\ Tools\ LE.app/Contents/MacOS/Pro\ Tools\ LE
</pre><hr />

Hope it helps someone else out there, I'd love to see a fix for this one.

Just an update -- I upgraded to 10.4.10 (yes I know that is frowned upon, but I do other things with this computer besides run PT). I found that my previous workaround stopped working, and launching from the Finder still doesn't work. I tried the combo updater and redoing prebinding again and that didn't help.

But now, if I open PT this way from the Terminal, it works.

<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>
open /Applications/Digidesign/Pro\ Tools/Pro\ Tools\ LE.app
</pre><hr />

WTF? Did I mention that I'm a big fan of copy protection software?

And what did the new update provide you? What "other things" did you need help with?

Sorry, I'm not going to bite on that one...

Perhaps my workaround will help someone else, that's why I posted it.
