Upgraded my sound card and now I have weird lag

I have a question to anyone who can answer this. I just installed a new sound card on my PC. A Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty sound card. Now I am getting this weird application lag(Not Audio)during playback. My meters and faders and kind of are sticking. The sound is ok though. I have a very high end video card with the latest drivers so I know it's not that. It works great on everything else. Before this card I was using the onboard SigmaTel Audio(Onboard) and it was ok. I upgraded to improve performance and now it's worse. Is there something I need to turn on or off so they don't conflict? Or is it automatically configured?

Go to a website with users of Creative hardware. All Protools systems use only Digidesign (and some Maudio) hardware, so you are at the wrong company's website.

Have you turned the computer over and tried to drain out the latency? A lot of times it will run out the vents.....Dont get any on your video card though it may short out

My apologies, I forgot to mention. I am using Pro Tools 7.1.

Ah. Try this:
1-ControlPanel/System/Hardware/DeviceManager/Sound[...]Controllers
2-Right click on your Creative card, choose 'Disable'

You can do the same thing to Enable it when you want (eg, when you are not using Protools).

Note that the wavedriver and asio drivers will allow you to use the 002 and Mbox for non-protools programs, and they probably sound at least as good as your new sound card. There are a few things you might need to do with some programs, though.
