"half freezing"...

I've had a problem that happens sometimes...

Suddenly, when I play back a session on PT, the timebar (that line that moves across the edit screen) is invisible, although I can hear the sound. This also results in intermittent use of other controls too - like a Mute or Solo button for instance.

Sometimes it comes and goes on reboot etc. Sometimes it doesn't.

My first guess is an underpowered computer system - but is there anything else I can try first?

Guess what I discovered?
When PT is in a full screen (maximized) window it works fine, but in a movable window it gives me the freezing up problem.
Sweet - I just stay in a maxed window...

Actually its great you found a workaround or solution your self and are back in the game:)

If the problem reoccours info like track count, CPU and Disk usage etc would be helpfull.

About 20 audio tracks, 10 midi, Strike, 5 instrument tracks (not all at once of course)
Been working flawlessly ever since I discovered the keep-maximized-PT-window trick. Even down to 128 so long as I don't move a MIX or EDIT window while playing.
Methinks it's time to go dual screen!

I am getting a half freezing problem too. This started to happen after I recently upgraded to a Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty sound card and I am running PT 7.1 on Windows. Is there some kind of a setting I need to set so the sound card is not conflicting with the onboard sound card?

Toss the Sound Blaster... no doubt you have an IRQ conflict.
