Never sure why it happens, but that has been happing for years. Sort of got used to doing that I guess-:)
Well, I installed the new Protools and everything seems fine so far. Decided there was NO need to update to Mojave at all. Just running Sierra still. Did not want to go thru any grief with an OS X update issue with my workload. Also, wanted to NOTE that I opened a decent session and re-activated a midi Instrument track and it stayed unable to work even after I de-activated the Kontakt Intrument. There was an Ivory VI in there, but I deleted that and tried several types of VI's with no success on that track. THEN I did what has been my workaround for a while now and just duplicated the track and just like magic, the duplicated track of the problem track worked fine. Then I just deleted the old one. No idea why this bug happens. My system is super clean and no crashes at all really. G

I've updated too. I know I said I was going to wait to update my production machine, but I was mixing away and suddenly found myself hankering after this seamless plug-in instantiation lark.

Installed it using the Avid Link thing; no problems at all and it's running fine. Actually it's kind of underwhelming after all the anticipation and fuss; it's business as usual here.

Updating to Mojave will be a whole different matter, for another day. Meanwhile: mixing, mixing, just keep mixing...

I updated but will be going back to 2018.10 Multiple crashes throughout the day, which was a tracking day with a consistent client. There's one session where I previously had several AudioSuite plugins windows open and after updating, if I try to close any other windows Pro Tools crashes. I am also experiencing crashes when using the close session key command.

I updated to Mojave prior to installing 2019.5 I didn't try to run PT until 2019.5 was installed. the Mojave from 10.13.6 went really smoothly. plus apple says they have improved connectivity with external audio devices in Mojave which could be a plus. my system seems to be running pretty solid and so far Im please with the updates.

On another note, I notice the Clickll plug is back... and seems to have been updated or modified..... since it is about .4Mb smaller. Maybe they have fixed it? doesn't seem to be causing issues for me so far but I haven't tried using it either.

One really odd thing happened... None of the sessions I'm working on have any outputs routed except 1-2. All the foldback, hardware sends etc. are all inactive now I'm at the mix stage.

But I just noticed that the first time I opened a session after installing Mojave there was something coming out of 3-4 on my Presonus interface. I fired up the desk and listened to it and it was a continuous tone, about 500Hz, at what would be about -10dBFS. No indication anywhere in the session where this might be coming from.

I closed the session, the tone remained. I quit Pro Tools and the tone stopped. Re-launched Pro Tools and tone didn't come back, and didn't come back when I re-opened the session. So then I opened another session I hadn't tried on 2019 yet. The tone came back, but again only the first time I launched that session.

No big deal, but very strange...

I didn't realise it had gone away. I was using it just the other week on a session...

Did the update to my Mac Pro 5,1 12 core (High Sierra) HDX2 today.

Took about 7 minutes to flash both HDX cards, but glad that process went smoothly.

Seems to be a little better CPU wise, and no CPU spikes ...so I'm happy!! :)

Do hope Avid give us the promised extra voices (and time slots?) in the next version, we've paid for it via are subs, even if they have to do a 15% card recall.
