Default Re: 2018.7 So Far...

Just did a recording session (classical music), 16 tracks at 24bit/192khz over motu avb system. Protools is not certified with macOS 10.13.6 and motu avb not recommended going direct over avb to the Mac mini i5 I’m using. So I should have had issues from all over the places. All went smooth for the 12 hours that the session lasted. Rock solid, I had the impression I was running a real tape machine.

Curious what buffer size you were running?

Thank you. Typically I have used my Mac for playback mixing with UAD devices so I totally missed the problem with 10.13.4 and up; recording at buffers below 128 and CPU spikes. If you drop your buffers to 64 does your CPU in System usage then go unstable?

Default Re: 2018.7 So Far... Fab-Filter Issues

I'm on 10.13.6 (currently unsupported) with PT 2018.7. Everything seems to be working well besides if I open Fab-Filter plug ins, about 2 minutes after, all the menus stop working and I have to Quit, and reopen PT (while holding N to open the Playback device or I get another error).

That solves the problem but I can't use FF for now.

No 64 buffer size at 192 kHz sample rate. 64 buffer size at 48khz is like 256 @ 192khz

2018.7 has been great for me on Win 10 Pro. Just recently got off the Mac bandwagon and finding things pretty good on this side (so far).

Just wondering why someone still working at 192 khz. There are many papers by Paul Frindle, Nika Aldrich and Dan Lavry that say that a optimum sr would be something around 60 Khz (that doesn't exist) and 96khz is the higher sr to go. Higher than this causes a loss of definition in the bass freq. due to the dac reconstruction

Interesting, maybe I should try 88.2k over the usual 96k.

Because I, repeat, I hear differences between 96 and 192 for classical music recordings. More realistic space and depth.

For pop music I stay at 48
