I have noticed that this usually coincides with a release not far off.
Maybe they have a mole
Either that or PT Expert knows that the natives are starting to get restless and they are writing an article to satiate them.

EITHER it's just a 'universal' drop down selection on the site merely to reflect versions as other Avid products (Sibelius, Media Composer, Application manager ..) having reached 2018.7 OR we are reading too much into it. The anxious wait for Pro Tools to reach 2018.7 or 2018.8 is understandable .

From the countdown on the PTE, i think that it is pretty obvious...
Hope it will worth it...this time.

Well indeed, they did then follow it with a "we haven't had an update for ages and all the other Avid products have we're the poor relations boo hoo" article. Which I read.

Man whenever they say "before the end of the month" they're not kidding!

This release will define if i will renew the annual plan in September.
So far, in 2018 there is nothing big, feature wise, to bring back home. Bug fixes are welcome but that is not development, that is maintenance.
Where is the promised stuff they should deliver more frequently due to the new, extortion, oops.... i mean the annual subscription model?
Lets see....

Last April, really worked with Avid CS to get to the bottom of why my CPU was spiking on a supported computer with 2018.4, fortunately they were able to replicate the issue on their test machine ..so with that fact I re-newed at the end of April. Since then.. no new release!

So i'm on tender hooks! I had to take a gamble that my bug will get fixed, I took another gamble, ditching HDN, and buying two HDX cards in the hope that might rectify my issue.. this is getting expensive now! ..of course without luck.

This September it will be one year of updates that are no use to me, and I feel forced to keep paying to not get penalised in the future.

I am familiar with your story, i have read it in the other thread you have posted.
It is very painful to invest time and money on a platform that demises day by day.
I feel you...

I am a long time member here, but i do not post often, simply because my time is limited, but i read and want to know what's going on in PT land. I am disappointed with Avid so far, development looks stacked, many people in the business share the same sentiment and looking for other DAWs.

2018 was the worst so far.... i guess, the termination of the CEO set things back, so that reflects to the company and the products. Hope the new CEO put things in the right order...

I read an interview of him and i think this gentleman might change something to the right direction as he tries to convince us with his saying. Time will tell, but i don't hold my breath...
If you have the time take a read or it.

There's some countdown going on over a PTE - it's counting down to 11:30am EST .. Who know's what its for. I'm 3.5 hours away from August, they're obviously not including New Zealand in their countdown - if indeed it is a countdown to a release ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
