PT12 & Melodyne Editor
I use the Melodyne plugin with PT12. Is it possible to launch the Melodyne plugin track directly in the Melodyne Standalone? If so, how is it done?
thanks, Geoff |

Re: PT12 & Melodyne Editor
The stand-alone version gets opened outside of Pro Tools and will have no direct connection with a session. I'm not exactly sure if your version offers the stand-alone mode. Which number of Melodyne? I had version 2 and don't remember. Now that I have version 4, the install created a Melodyne icon on the desktop. To perform the tempo edits that version 4 is capable of, it must be done in the stand-alone version.

Re: PT12 & Melodyne Editor
I'm pretty sure that what the OP is asking is whether when he is working on a track in Pro Tools with the Melodyne plugin instantiated he can directly open that track's audio in Melodyne standalone.
I think the answer is no, AFAIK there is no facility in the Melodyne plugin version to say that you want to open the standalone version instead.

Re: PT12 & Melodyne Editor
In a previous Melodyne version, one was able to use the ReWire bridge workflow to open a PT track in Melodyne standalone, do your Melodyne work and then transfer it back to PT as a 'normal' audio track. For some reason, I preferred that workflow to what I use now which is to just use Melodyne as a plug-in on a track.
The reason I prefer the standalone method is that it is not unusual for me to edit a track more than once. When I used the standalone route, I could just go back to the Melodyne session, do the new edit and re-export the finished edit track to PT... or, just do a simple edit to the edit page audio track in PT when all that was needed was to shorten or lengthen a word in a vocal track. Now, when one tries to edit a track that has been edited in Melodyne 3.2, PT plays back the first edit track from a Melodyne folder in the session, and disregards any new edit work in the PT edit page track. So one has to transfer the region that needs additional editing to Melodyne and do the work in the Melodyne plug. This is a little faster, but as I mentioned I prefer being able to do post-Melodyne edits right to the audio track. |

Re: PT12 & Melodyne Editor
Thanks for the replies so far. Yes, I was wanting to try to open the plugin track directly in the Standalone version, instead of in PT. This is because, as of yesterday, trying to open the Melodyne Plugin freezes PT. I have tried duplicating the track, but to no avail.
Other instances load fine, just the lead vocal track is locking up. I thought accessing it outside of PT might help find the problem. I spent quite a few hours getting the vocal track 'perfected', and trying to salvage it. Thanks - any tips welcome. cheers, Geoff |

Re: PT12 & Melodyne Editor
You may want to try check the directory Melodyne is using for its cache. Is it on a drive that's not mounted by any chance? Maybe permissions have changed?
Try using the melodyne plugin in a new session. If that works, maybe try importing the vocal track into that new session and see if it works...
